Audi strengthens DTM involvement

After the successful DTM comeback was crowned by winning the Drivers', Manufacturers' and Teams' Championships, AUDI AG strengthens their works involvement in Europe's most popular touring car series. The new Audi A4, the entry of eight instead of six cars and a newly formed driver squad should allow the title defence during the 2005 season. As before, the two well-proven partner teams of Abt Sportsline and Joest Racing will assume responsibility for the race logistic. With defending champion Mattias Ekström (Sweden), Tom Kristensen (Denmark), Martin Tomczyk and Christian Abt (both Germany), four former Audi DTM drivers again number among the 2005 driver squad. New to the Audi DTM team are former Formula 1 driver Allan McNish (Scotland), Le Mans winner Rinaldo Capello (Italy) and the two Germans Pierre Kaffer and Frank Stippler.
